Great to meet you!

Welcome! I am Dr. Tameka Polk, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with more than 20 years of healthcare experience. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for patients in a variety of healthcare settings, giving me a deep understanding of the connection between physical and mental health.

I believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. My goal is to provide a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, or other mental health concerns, I am committed to partnering with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.

My approach combines evidence-based medication management with education, supportive therapy, and practical coping strategies. I believe treatment is most successful when patients are active participants in their care, and I strive to ensure that every patient understands their diagnosis, treatment options, and goals.

In addition to treating mental health conditions, I am passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and increasing access to quality behavioral healthcare. I enjoy educating patients and families, participating in community outreach, and advocating for improved mental health services.

When you become my patient, you can expect honesty, open communication, and a provider who genuinely cares about your well-being. My goal is not only to help you feel better today but also to equip you with the tools and support needed to thrive long term.

My approach to therapy

I believe in providing compassionate, patient-centered care that is tailored to each individual's unique needs. My approach combines evidence-based medication management, supportive therapy, and education to help patients better understand their mental health and achieve their treatment goals.

I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan focused on improving symptoms, building resilience, and enhancing overall well-being.

What you can expect from me

On the first visit, clients can expect a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where I take time to understand their current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, and any previous treatments.

We will talk through what they’ve been experiencing, how it’s impacting daily life, and what goals they have for care. This visit also includes screening tools when appropriate and a review of relevant medical history and medications.

I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan focused on improving symptoms, building resilience, and enhancing overall well-being.

There will not be a rush to provide a diagnosis without a thorough review of available records and a collaborative, in-depth clinical interview to ensure an accurate and thoughtful assessment.

By the end of the appointment, clients can expect an initial diagnostic impression and a collaborative treatment plan, which may include medication options, therapy recommendations, education, and clear next steps for follow-up. The focus is on clarity, safety, and making sure they feel supported from the very beginning.
