Great to meet you!

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health. I’m originally from New York and now call Georgia home, so you may notice a little New York directness mixed with Southern warmth in my style. I earned my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and have worked across a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient care, community mental health, managed care, and virtual therapy. That range of experience has allowed me to work with people from many different backgrounds and at different stages of life.

I currently work with adults, families, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, relationship challenges, major life transitions, workplace concerns, and other situations that can leave us feeling overwhelmed or unsure of what comes next. I also have experience supporting individuals with trauma-related concerns, substance use and recovery, and more complex behavioral health needs.

My style is warm, approachable, and down-to-earth. I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be yourself, without judgment and without feeling like you have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I’ll meet you where you are, but I’ll also help you move toward where you want to be.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be more than simply talking about what’s wrong. Processing is important, but I also want our sessions to help you better understand yourself, recognize patterns, develop practical tools, and begin making meaningful changes in your everyday life.

One question you’ll hear me ask is, “How can I best support you, and what does support look like for you?” I think that matters. Some clients need a safe space to process, some want practical tools and strategies, some need accountability, and sometimes you may need me to respectfully challenge you or help you see something from a different perspective. What you need may also change over time, and that’s okay.

My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented. Depending on your needs, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT-informed strategies, motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, psychoeducation, mindfulness, emotional-regulation skills, and other evidence-informed approaches.

I’m an active therapist. I listen, ask questions, offer perspective, provide education, and sometimes challenge you to look at something differently. We may use worksheets, reflection activities, or practice skills together during sessions. I’ll celebrate your progress while also helping you recognize where there may still be room for growth.

Most importantly, therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll work together to create a therapeutic experience that feels supportive, purposeful, and useful to you.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I’ll want to understand what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, what you’ve already tried, what’s working, what isn’t, and what you would ultimately like to be different.

You don’t need to arrive with the “right” words or know exactly what your goals are. We can figure that out together.

I’ll ask questions, but I also want the session to feel like a conversation and not an interrogation. We’ll begin identifying your priorities and discussing what treatment could look like based on your individual needs. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask me questions and get a feel for my style.

My goal is for you to leave that first session feeling heard, understood, and a little clearer about where we’re going next. And if we decide we’re a good fit, we’ll begin building a plan together from there.
