Great to meet you!

My name is Tamieka Martin, PhD, LPC. I received my Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from Liberty University and both my Masters and Bachelor’s degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have two decades of experience supporting women and adolescent girls through anxiety, depression, and self-esteem struggles. My focus is on empowering you to navigate life's transitions by building practical, actionable coping skill. I am dedicated to helping you unlock your full potential. Fascinated by how perception shapes reality, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space in therapy. Together, we will build self-awareness and develop the practical tools you need to thrive. Outside of work, I am dedicated to volunteering in my church and mentoring young women. I am an avid culinary enthusiast who loves cooking, baking, and bringing humor to those around me.

My approach to therapy

My approach combines warmth, compassion, and practical evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centered Therapy. I take a compassionate and highly collaborative approach to therapy, partnering with you every step of the way so you never have to navigate your challenges alone. I am committed to helping you understand your stressors, safely express your emotions, and gain valuable insights. Together, we will work to build the personalized tools and resilience you need to feel grounded, balanced, and empowered in your everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our initial meeting is a relaxed, collaborative "getting to know you" conversation. We will review paperwork, and explore your goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is absolutely no pressure to share everything at once; your comfort and safety are my top priorities. We will look at scheduling and discuss how we can build a consistent routine that works for your life. We will establish immediate, practical next steps, including tailored self-care tools from day one. If you want a down-to-earth therapist to guide your healing, I would love to connect.
