Great to meet you!

I'm Tamika Grimes, a licensed professional counselor in the state of Georgia, and I’ve spent the past seventeen years working in the mental health and substance abuse field, supporting individuals on their journey to healing and long-term recovery. My career began in South Carolina, where I felt called to help people reclaim their lives through counseling, compassion, and accountability.

Over the years, I’ve worked in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and I’ve had the privilege of partnering with Georgia’s accountability courts, community centers, and schools across Georgia and South Carolina. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the unique challenges individuals face and strengthened my commitment to walking alongside them through every step of the recovery process.

I hold an Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling from the University of Georgia, a Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Francis Marion University. This educational foundation has equipped me with a well-rounded and evidence-based approach to supporting clients through life’s challenges.

I’m passionate about helping adolescents and adults overcome addiction and mental health struggles. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone break through barriers and build a healthier, more hopeful future.

My approach is grounded in empathy, professionalism, and a deep belief in every person’s capacity for growth. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or a loved one, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity, courage, and care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients explore how their thoughts and beliefs influence their emotions and behaviors. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, we work together to develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. I also incorporate a Solution-Focused approach, which emphasizes clients’ strengths and builds on what’s already working in their lives to create meaningful and achievable goals. My goal is to provide a supportive, practical, and empowering space where clients feel heard, understood, and equipped to make lasting change.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions with me feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with practical tools to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we will work to identify patterns, set meaningful goals, and build on strengths to foster growth and resilience. My goal is for clients to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, learn strategies to manage their emotions and behaviors, and feel more confident in their ability to create positive change. Sessions are collaborative, goal-oriented, and rooted in compassion and respect for each person’s unique journey.
