Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience working with individuals in the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and psychiatric populations. My career has allowed me to serve both children and adults across diverse care settings, supporting individuals and families through some of their most vulnerable moments. I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care that honors each individual’s unique story, strengths, and goals.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Executive Leadership and later completed a Post-Master’s certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). My background also includes several years as a University Clinical Instructor, where I had the privilege of mentoring and preparing future nurses for clinical practice. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, clinical judgment, and dedication to evidence-based care.

I provide evaluation and treatment for Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. My approach blends clinical expertise with warmth, empathy, and collaboration. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients and families feel heard, respected, and empowered in their mental health journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to providing care is compassionate, collaborative, and person-centered. I believe that every individual deserves to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment journey. I take time to understand each client’s unique experiences, cultural background, strengths, and challenges, recognizing that mental health care is not one-size-fits-all.

I integrate evidence-based practice with practical, real-world understanding. I focus on thorough assessments, thoughtful medication management when appropriate, and clear education so clients and families feel confident and informed about their care. I value teamwork and often collaborate with therapists, primary care providers, educators, and family members to ensure holistic support.

Above all, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where both children and adults feel comfortable discussing their concerns. My goal is not only symptom management, but also helping individuals build resilience, improve functioning, and enhance their overall quality of life.

What you can expect from me

You can expect your first session with me to be welcoming, thorough, and centered around understanding your unique story. I aim to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns without fear of judgment. I recognize that starting and continuing mental health treatment can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process clear and collaborative from the very beginning.

During the initial appointment, we will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. This includes discussing current symptoms, past mental health and medical history, medications, family history, lifestyle factors, and any previous treatments. For children and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, I also gather input from parents, caregivers, or support systems to ensure a well-rounded understanding of needs and strengths.

By the end of the session, we will review initial impressions, discuss possible diagnoses if appropriate, and explore treatment options together. This may include therapy recommendations, medication management, behavioral strategies, or coordination with other providers. Most importantly, you will leave with a clear plan, an opportunity to ask questions, and reassurance that you have a partner in your care journey.
