Great to meet you!

I’m Tammy Kothe-Ramsey, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor specializing in child and family anxiety therapy. With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I’ve dedicated my career to helping children and families overcome challenges, find healing, and create stronger, more connected relationships.

My passion for counseling began with my personal journey. As a mother raising a child with anxiety, I sought to better understand what my child was experiencing and how I could support her. That experience ignited a deep commitment to helping others navigate similar struggles with compassion and empathy.

Beyond the therapy room, I’m a photographer and an avid traveler who enjoys exploring new places with my husband. I have three amazing children, two wonderful grandchildren, and a household full of love—shared equally among my six cats and dog!

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and understood. I work with individuals, children, and families to explore underlying patterns contributing to distress, while using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques to support meaningful change. I also incorporate creative and experiential modalities, including play therapy, art-based interventions, and sand tray therapy, to help clients express and process emotions in ways that feel accessible and authentic. Treatment is individualized, with a focus on building practical coping skills, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, and fostering long-term resilience and balance.

What you can expect from me

A typical first session is focused on creating a safe, welcoming space where clients can begin to feel comfortable sharing at their own pace. I start by reviewing confidentiality and the structure of therapy, then gather information about what brings the client in, current concerns, and relevant background history. I pay close attention to emotional, behavioral, and relational patterns, while also observing areas such as mood, communication, and functioning. For children and families, this may include interactive or play-based engagement to build rapport and observe dynamics. Throughout the session, I work collaboratively with the client to identify initial goals and discuss what they would like to gain from therapy. I also begin introducing supportive strategies when appropriate, ensuring the client leaves with a sense of direction, understanding, and reassurance about the therapeutic process moving forward.
