Great to meet you!

Welcome! I'm Tammy Muir, LPC, CRC, ICGC-II, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and Internationally Certified Gambling Counselor-II with more than 20 years of counseling experience. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive place where you feel heard, respected, and free from judgment.

I specialize in helping adults overcome Gambling Disorder and also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, grief, and stress. My approach is collaborative and practical, using evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to help you identify meaningful goals and develop lasting skills for change.

Whether you're seeking recovery from gambling, navigating a difficult life transition, or looking for greater emotional well-being, I am committed to helping you build resilience, restore hope, and create meaningful, lasting change. If faith or spirituality is an important part of your life, I am happy to incorporate those values into therapy whenever you choose.

My approach to therapy

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth and change when they feel understood, supported, and equipped with the right tools. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and goal-oriented. I strive to create a nonjudgmental environment where you can openly discuss your challenges and feel empowered to make meaningful changes.

I primarily use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and relapse prevention strategies. Together, we'll identify unhelpful patterns, build healthier coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop practical solutions that fit your life. I tailor therapy to your individual needs, recognizing that no single approach works for everyone.

Whether you're seeking recovery from Gambling Disorder, coping with anxiety or depression, navigating relationship difficulties, or adjusting to a major life transition, my goal is to help you gain insight, build confidence, and create lasting, positive change. If you desire, I am also happy to incorporate faith and spiritual principles into the counseling process in a way that respects your personal beliefs.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, trusting relationship. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope to accomplish through counseling. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, health, and any previous counseling experiences so I can better understand your unique situation.

Together, we'll identify your goals and begin developing a plan that fits your needs. You're welcome to ask questions at any time about the therapy process or my approach. There is no pressure to share everything in the first session—we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

My goal is for you to leave your first appointment feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer understanding of the path we'll take together.
