Great to meet you!

I am a warm, engaging, and validating therapist who believes that meaningful therapy begins with feeling heard, respected, and understood. I have worked in the mental health field for 18, including 14 providing direct services, monitoring clinical care, and providing clinical supervision.

My interest in mental health is also personal. My family has experienced poverty, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, psychosis, and psychiatric hospitalization at a time when mental health carried significant stigma and was poorly understood. Seeing the impact that misunderstanding can have on individuals and families motivated me to learn as much as possible so I could help others access accurate information, compassionate support, and effective treatment.

I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky and am licensed to provide clinical supervision to certified social workers. I believe clients are the experts on their own lives, so I welcome their perspective and input throughout the therapeutic process. While I can be direct when it is helpful, I strive to offer honesty with compassion and respect.

My approach to therapy

I use an integrative and holistic approach, drawing from several evidence-informed methods and adapting treatment to each client’s goals, needs, strengths, and circumstances. My training includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, CARE Skills, behavioral management, and Nurturing Parenting.

I believe therapy should be client-centered while also considering the environmental and relational contexts that shape a person’s experience. In my clinical decision-making, I consider the effects of past trauma, cognitive distortions, current stressors, relationships, and other environmental factors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify patterns, build practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful, sustainable change. My practice is guided by the NASW Code of Ethics, including a commitment to dignity, self-determination, cultural humility, and responsible clinical care.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be a collaborative opportunity to begin getting to know one another and understand what brings you to therapy. I will ask about your current concerns, goals, strengths, relationships, environment, and relevant experiences so we can develop a fuller picture of your needs.

You can expect a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where your perspective matters. We will discuss what you would like to work on, identify initial priorities, and begin considering an approach that fits you. I will explain how I work, answer your questions, and invite your feedback so therapy feels purposeful and collaborative from the beginning. You do not need to have everything figured out before our first session—we can begin wherever you are.
