As a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with experience in the substance abuse treatment field since 2008. I bring both clinical expertise and deep compassion to the work I do.
My approach is client-centered and strengths-based. I collaborate with individuals to identify meaningful goals and use evidence-based practices—including motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy —to support lasting progress and personal growth.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration. Here's what you can generally expect:
Introduction and Overview: We'll start with brief introductions, and I’ll share a bit about my background, approach, and the structure of counseling sessions.
Review of Paperwork: If you haven’t completed it already, we’ll review the intake forms, confidentiality policies, and consent for treatment. I’ll also answer any questions you may have about the process.
Getting to Know You: I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current concerns, goals for treatment, and any past experience with counseling or treatment. This may feel more like an interview at first, but it helps guide the work we’ll do together.
Creating a Comfortable Space: You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable. There’s no pressure to go into everything right away — we’ll move at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.
Next Steps: By the end of the session, we’ll talk about a plan moving forward, which might include identifying goals, scheduling future sessions, or discussing specific areas you’d like to focus on.
This first session is just the beginning. It’s a chance to explore whether we’re a good fit and to start creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can do meaningful work toward your goals.
