Great to meet you!

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of Tara Cole Counseling Services, where I work with individuals, couples, and families across the lifespan. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from both insight and practical skill-building.

I have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and trauma. I also work with individuals who feel “stuck” or disconnected from themselves and want to better understand who they are and how to move forward in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.

My style is warm, direct, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a space where clients feel both supported and gently challenged. Therapy with me is not just about talking, it’s about gaining tools, building awareness, and making real-life changes that improve your day-to-day experience.

I draw from evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while also tailoring treatment to each person’s unique needs, values, and goals. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership, and I strive to meet each client where they are.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in both insight and action. I believe that real change happens when clients not only understand themselves more deeply but also develop practical tools they can use in their everyday lives.

I primarily draw from evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while also integrating other strategies based on each client’s unique needs. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Therapy is tailored to you, your goals, and what actually works in your real life.

In our work together, I focus on helping you identify patterns, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build healthier ways of coping and relating to yourself and others. At the same time, I value creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental, while also gently challenging you when needed to support growth.

I view therapy as a partnership. You bring your experiences and goals; I bring clinical knowledge, structure, and guidance. Together, we work toward meaningful, sustainable change.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, collaborative foundation. I’ll ask questions to better understand what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and any relevant background that may help guide our work together.

We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, what’s been working, and what hasn’t. There’s no pressure to share everything all at once. You can go at your own pace.

I’ll explain how I approach therapy, answer any questions you may have, and begin to outline what our work together might look like. In many cases, we’ll start identifying patterns or initial strategies you can begin using right away.

Most importantly, the first session is about making sure you feel comfortable. A strong therapeutic relationship is key, and this is a space where you should feel heard, respected, and supported from the start.
