Great to meet you!

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I believe that we can change the trajectory of our lives even when it feels hopeless. I specialize in addiction and related issues, including relationship conflicts, anxiety, lack of purpose and identity, and depression. I spent three years training at Tarzana Treatment Centers, where I provided evidence-based treatment for individuals dealing with severe mental illnesses, mood disorders, and addiction, all of which affected various aspects of their lives. Additionally, I received training at Airport Marina Counseling to offer therapy through a psychodynamic perspective. Currently, I teach a graduate-level course on psychodynamic therapy. My goal is to help you uncover your sense of self and purpose.

My approach to therapy

We will work together in sessions to explore what might be keeping you stuck, specifically what is maintaining your sense of hopelessness. We will explore patterns in your relationships as well as your thought content that lead to anxiety, depression, and substance use. It is essential to slow down and focus on the emotions that arise in the session, as well as the defenses we use to avoid them. Change can be overwhelming, and I aim to provide a warm, humorous, yet challenging environment that promotes growth.

What you can expect from me

During the intake process, we will identify the conflicts and barriers that are holding you back. We will work together to identify clear, reasonable, and attainable goals for therapy. Progress looks different for everyone, and I believe in cherishing small wins. Therapy can resemble a stock market graph at times; sometimes there are dips, but overall there is a steady incline. The goal is not to let the dips destroy your progress. Generally, I work with adult clients who are ready to take the necessary steps to change, as well as those who are willing to start processing challenging emotions.
