Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Tara Spry, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Missouri with over a decade of experience supporting children, teens, young adults, and families. I primarily provide telehealth services, allowing clients to access therapy in a flexible and convenient way while still receiving thoughtful, personalized care.

I specialize in working with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, perfectionism, and family or life transitions. As a former school counselor, I bring a unique understanding of the academic, social, and emotional challenges students face, and I enjoy partnering with parents to help support children both at home and at school.

My approach is trauma-informed, structured, and collaborative. I focus on creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel understood while also developing practical tools they can use in everyday life. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling and have advanced training in trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and parent coaching.

Whether I’m working with a child adjusting to change, a teen navigating anxiety or identity concerns, or a young adult managing life transitions, my goal is to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and empowered to move forward.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and empowering. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and client-centered—I meet each person where they are and tailor our work to their unique needs and goals. I use a blend of evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused techniques, and trauma-informed care to help clients better understand themselves, build healthier coping skills, and create meaningful change.

As a former school counselor, I have a strong foundation in supporting children and adolescents, especially those managing ADHD, anxiety, trauma, or behavioral challenges. I also enjoy working with parents and families to strengthen communication, connection, and confidence at home. Whether we’re exploring emotions, building routines, or practicing mindfulness, I work to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and encouraged.

Therapy with me often includes humor, creative strategies, and real-life tools you can use outside of sessions. I strive to help each client feel less overwhelmed and more hopeful—one step at a time.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to create a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to be themselves. Whether you're a child learning to name big emotions, a teen exploring identity and relationships, or a parent trying to manage everyday stress, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy and practical support.

I approach therapy with flexibility, compassion, and a focus on helping clients gain clarity, confidence, and tools for everyday life. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused strategies, and trauma-informed practices to guide our work. Depending on your needs, we might work on goals like improving emotional regulation, reducing anxiety, building executive functioning skills, healing from trauma, or strengthening relationships within the family.

I also love bringing creativity and lightness into therapy—especially with younger clients—through games, art, and story-based techniques that make the process more engaging and effective. No matter your age, I strive to make therapy feel approachable and empowering so you leave each session feeling seen, supported, and one step closer to your goals.
