Dr. Tara Thomas

I am dual board certified in Psychiatry and Sleep Medicine. After training at RUSH University Medical Center, Dr. Thomas established the first Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at the Michael E Debakey Veterans Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Thomas is an Assistant professor of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine and she is involved in education of the Sleep Medicine Fellows and Psychiatry residents. I hope to provide an enhanced patient experience given my added expertise.

She provides medication management, psychotherapy and sleep medicine services to adults.

Dr. Thomas’ philosophy is grounded in trust, compassion, and comprehensive care—qualities she believes are essential to achieving lasting, positive outcomes. She begins by building a strong foundation of trust, taking the time to truly listen and understand each patient’s concerns, goals, and unique circumstances. With this understanding, Dr. Thomas works collaboratively with her patients to design care plans that are not only personalized but also practical and supportive. Her approach goes beyond treating symptoms; she focuses on the whole person, ensuring that every patient feels heard, valued, and empowered in their journey toward better mental health.

Dr. Thomas sees comprehensive care as treating the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and culture. She highlights the vital role of sleep in mental health and partners with other providers when possible to deliver truly connected care.
