Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Tarah! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and have been an active duty LCSW in the US Army for the past 7 years. I have worked with a variety of adult populations with diverse, complex problems, including acute, chronic, and complex trauma; crises/high risk; attachment, marital, and interpersonal relationship issues; depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders; and varying men's and women's mental health issues.

I specialize in integrative, embodied therapies and nervous system attunement work, with specific training in EMDR, somatic therapies (SE, IFS, HeartMath), polyvagal theory, and interpersonal neurobiology. I utilize these frameworks in conjunction with tenets of other evidenced based modalities to a provide a therapeutic experience unique to each individual served.

As I approach my final months of serving active duty, I'm laying the ground work for my private practice in embodied psychotherapy: Unbridled Roots Embodied Therapy. As a certified Horse Guided Empowerment practitioner, my private practice will also be offering adjunctive equine assisted psychotherapy with the help of my herd.*

*Please note: at this time I am limited to only virtual care while continuing to serve active duty.

My approach to therapy

I strive to create a safe, experiential, compassionate space where healing, embodiment, and reconnection can occur through integrative trauma-informed therapy, nervous system attunement, and the transformative influence of a trusting therapeutic alliance. I take a holistic and humanistic approach with each client, focusing on the whole being--mind/body/spirit, values, experiences, and the surrounding environment--with a passion for helping clients achieve a thriving life, moving from survival to steady, empowered living.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect trauma-focused therapy tailor made to their individual needs and goals. Placing significant value on the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship, I meet clients wherever they're at in their healing journey, offering an open-minded, strengths-based perspective. My candid style offers an environment of transparency and empowerment from the very first session. Clients leave sessions feeling heard, valued, worthy, and motivated.
