Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Tawana Farley, a trauma therapist passionate about helping adults navigate life’s most overwhelming experiences with compassion, authenticity, and practical support. I specialize in working with complex trauma, grief, neurodivergence, and life transitions.

I have a strong background in trauma-focused care and specialize in supporting individuals who feel stuck in survival mode, and are just tired from carrying the long-term effects of chronic stress or painful experiences. I also have experience working with neurodivergent individuals, and caregivers.

My professional background includes providing therapy in non-profit settings, school-based settings, and trauma-informed environments. I am trained in EMDR and utilize evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs. My work is deeply rooted in helping clients understand the connection between the mind, body, nervous system, and emotional experiences.

I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients grant me the privilege of entering into their world. My goal is to gently help you explore your edges, deepen your understanding of yourself, and support you in feeling truly seen, heard, and supported throughout your healing journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered. I believe healing happens when clients feel emotionally safe, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace. I am not here to “fix” you. I am here to walk alongside you, helping you recognize the tools and strengths you have developed throughout your journey while supporting you in building more effective tools that align with who you are and what you need in the present season of your life.

I integrate evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, CBT, trauma-focused interventions, nervous system regulation strategies, mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques. I also focus heavily on neuroscience, emotional regulation, self-awareness, and understanding how past experiences can shape present thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships.

My goal is to help clients move from simply surviving to feeling more grounded, connected, confident, and emotionally regulated in their everyday lives.

What you can expect from me

The first session is all about creating a comfortable space for you to share your story, concerns, and goals at your own pace. Clients can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where they do not have to have everything “figured out” before starting therapy.

During the first session, we will talk about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you have been experiencing, your history, strengths, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. I will also answer any questions you may have about therapy and work collaboratively with you to begin identifying goals and areas of focus.

Most importantly, the first session is about building connection and helping you feel safe, heard, and supported. Therapy can feel vulnerable at first, so I prioritize meeting clients where they are and moving at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of their comfort level.
