Great to meet you!

Hello! I’m Taylar Avery, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping children, adolescents, young adults, and athletes navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Clayton State University and have several years of experience providing school-based and clinical mental health services in both community and hospital settings.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, empowered, and equipped with practical tools to manage anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, trauma, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions.

My goal is to meet each client where they are while helping them build healthier thought patterns, emotional awareness, confidence, and coping skills that extend beyond therapy sessions.

I believe therapy should feel collaborative, authentic, and tailored to your unique experiences. Whether you are navigating stress, healing from difficult experiences, or simply seeking personal growth, I look forward to supporting you on your journey.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, and tailored to each client’s individual needs. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop healthier thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and build effective coping skills. I believe in meeting clients where they are while creating a supportive and empowering space that encourages growth, self-awareness, and healing.

What you can expect from me

My first priority in therapy is creating a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. During the first session, clients can expect rapport building, open conversation, and space to share their concerns, goals, and experiences at their own pace. I also work to better understand each client’s strengths, challenges, and what they hope to gain from therapy so we can begin creating a personalized approach together. My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and empowered.
