Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Taylor Avery, an LCSW in Texas, and I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Texas. I specialize in working with individuals navigating substance use, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, and depression, and I have extensive experience in both individual and intensive outpatient settings.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, direct, and focused on meaningful change. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, REBT, positive psychology, and Brainspotting to help clients not only understand their patterns, but actively shift them. I tend to be both supportive and honest, creating a space where you feel safe to open up, while also being challenged to grow. I emphasize experiential work and practical tools so therapy isn’t just insight-driven, but something you can apply in your daily life. Ultimately, my goal is to help you build resilience, increase self-awareness, and move toward a life that aligns with your values.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, collaborative conversation where we begin getting a clear picture of what’s bringing you in and what you want to change. I’ll ask some questions about your background, current challenges, and goals, but it won’t feel like an interrogation more like us starting to connect the dots together. We’ll also talk about what you want out of therapy and begin identifying a direction that feels meaningful and realistic. My style is both supportive and direct, so you can expect honesty, curiosity, and a space where you don’t have to filter yourself. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better sense of how I work and some initial clarity on next steps.
