Great to meet you!

Hello! Welcome to my profile. I am Dr. Hulsey, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, substance use treatment programs, and forensic environments. I specialize in trauma and have a passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges and reconnect with what matters most to them.

My approach to therapy

My belief is that people already have what they need within themselves—and even in the midst of pain, healing and growth are possible. I’m here to walk alongside you with warmth, honesty, and respect, creating a space that feels safe, empowering, and authentic. I integrate a range of evidence-based approaches to support my clients in meaningful, lasting change. My primary modalities include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic therapy, which allow us to explore both present-moment challenges and deeper patterns rooted in past experiences. My practice is also grounded in person-centered and humanistic principles, offering clients a warm, nonjudgmental environment with unconditional positive regard. While these approaches guide much of our work, I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solutions Focused Therapy when practical tools and structure are beneficial. Regarding trauma, I am trained in Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).

What you can expect from me

Building trust and creating a sense of safety and comfort takes time. Our first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin establishing that foundation. While clinical training and experience are important, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is what matters most. If you do not feel comfortable with me, the work we do together will be limited.

Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, therapy is a collaborative process. My approach is compassionate, curious, and tailored to your unique needs. Together, we'll explore your experiences, make sense of the challenges you're facing, and identify a path forward that aligns with your values, strengths, and goals.
