Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Dr. Teresa Serrano, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) providing counseling services in both English and Spanish. I have over ten years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and a Doctorate in Social Work from California Baptist University. I am currently continuing my professional development to further expand the services and support I provide to my clients.

My approach to therapy

My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe that each person’s experiences, culture, and story are unique, so therapy is tailored to meet your individual needs and goals. My priority is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore challenges openly.

I use evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness strategies, and solution-focused techniques to help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we work to build practical coping skills, improve communication and relationships, and develop healthier patterns that support emotional and mental well-being.

I also recognize the importance of cultural values, family dynamics, and life experiences in shaping how we cope and grow. Therapy with me focuses not only on addressing current challenges but also on strengthening resilience and confidence so you can navigate future stressors more effectively.

My goal is to support you in creating meaningful change, improving your overall well-being, and helping you move forward with clarity and balance.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we will get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, background, and goals so we can begin creating a plan that supports your needs. Most importantly, this session is a safe space for you to share at your own pace and ask any questions about the therapy process.
