Great to meet you!

I graduated from the University of Florida’s Counselor Education program in 1992 with both my Master’s and Specialist degrees in counseling. I continue to train in a wide range of therapeutic models to sharpen my skills, stay current with evidence-based practices, and offer my clients the highest quality of care.

I believe life is short, and any opportunity to help others find peace and greater possibilities for happiness is a meaningful way to spend mine.

With many years of private practice experience, and working in a variety mental health settings, there are very few issues I haven’t encountered. I am a seasoned therapist with extensive training in couples therapy (including EFT, Gottman, and other modalities), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and trauma-focused approaches such as EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, guided imagery, visualization, and stress-management techniques.

In addition, I am highly trained in addressing parenting concerns and previously served as the Supervisor of Mental Health Counseling Services at the University of Florida, working with pregnant and postpartum parents to strengthen family systems. My seven years as a provider for Peaceful Paths, a domestic violence shelter & program, have also equipped me with significant experience supporting individuals navigating intimate partner violence.

I am proud of the work I do. I am currently working exclusively with adults and individual clients.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, client-centered, and grounded in the belief that each person has the capacity to grow, heal, and create meaningful change. I strive to create a comfortable, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. While I bring warmth and empathy to the work, I also offer direct, strength based feedback and guidance. My style is empathic, practical and solution-focused—I aim to help clients gain clarity, build skills, and move toward lasting change.

I am trauma-informed and sensitive to how past experiences shape present challenges. I work collaboratively with clients to help them feel safe, empowered, and in control of their therapeutic process. My goal is to meet clients exactly where they are, while guiding them toward the life, relationships, and emotional health they want to build.

What you can expect from me

The first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what you hope to achieve in therapy. I listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions to ensure I fully understand your needs. My goal is to help you feel comfortable from the very beginning and to show you that you are truly heard. This conversation allows me to begin forming a plan and develop a sense of how we can work together most effectively. When it makes sense, I also try to give some feedback and ideas on the presenting issues.
