Great to meet you!

Healing is a journey not an event, and it is not a linear process! In the last two decades I have committed myself to a journey of transformation.

Starting on the "other side of the couch" my desire to become a clinician came from having an amazing therapist impact my life. I am a first generation born Latina Cis - Femme womyn and I am a part of a beautiful blended cultural and racial family. Social justice is at the heart of my life and values, and I have worked with many in academia, non-profit sector and activism through art and artists, as well as folks navigating the public eye in high celebrity roles, or entertainment arena.

The first of my family to attend college and graduate school I know what it is like to juggle the intersections of identity, ethnicity and class while navigating the impact of addiction and trauma within one's family lineage and learning to thrive after "surviving" those hardships in life.

Trained in trauma informed care, DBT, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Motivational Interviewing and harm reduction therapies.

My specialties include: self esteem building, ADHD strategies, childhood trauma, treating alcoholism/addiction, codependency and processing addictions (social media/food/etc), couples work, sexual identity exploration, career transitions, caregivers/first responders, betrayal/loss, chronic PTSD, postpartum depression and emerging youth and adults at all ages-from a developmental perspective. I am very open and welcome to including a mind-body-spirit approach and other tools of spirituality if and when this is helpful and empowering for my client/s.

My approach to therapy

We start where you are at! What does that mean? Everyone is at a different place of ability and experience when coming to therapy. I take a holistic and integrative approach with my clients. We begin with what is bringing you to therapy in this moment and work backwards and inwards from that starting point. Active listening, warmth and unconditional regard is essential to my style. I ama patient and warm while also challenging patients in a caring manner to assist them in delving deeper and trusting their own inner wisdom.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to affirm and empower every individual/couple/family I am honored to work with on their journey of healing and transformation. Meeting my client/s where they are at and helping them see where they want to grow and go, is my favorite part of the process! I love what I do and I bring deep insight, enthusiasm, humor, wit and care into each session.

Through a warm and engaging exploration safety and trust are built first and with time. Then identifying values and needs. Creating space for reflection to see what has been going well in your life and where and how you desire to see change in yourself and your life. I see myself as a guide to witness, honor your story and empower you to reach your personal goals at whatever stage you are in life. Goals are set in a collaborative manner and I believe that therapy is a dialectical process.

Together we evaluate and review what is working, what needs to be released and transformed within sessions so you can be at your best where it matters most. Therapy is what really happens between each session, it is in taking the insights and tools from therapy into your inner and outer world where the magic of healing happens.
