Your first session with me is not a test, and you don't need to show up with a perfectly organized explanation of what's wrong. My first priority is getting to know you as a person, not just reading through a list of symptoms. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you've been experiencing, and what you'd like to be different. Most importantly, I want you to get a sense of what working with me feels like. Therapy is a relationship, and feeling comfortable with your therapist matters. You don't have to tell me your entire life story in 50 minutes, and you definitely don't have to have everything figured out. We'll take our time, figure out where to start, and build from there. If you're nervous, that's okay too. Starting therapy can be awkward. We can be awkward together for a minute and then get to the good stuff!
