Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Tim Huang (he/him), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Supervisor with a doctorate in Social Work from Tulane University. I provide trauma-informed therapy in English and Mandarin and work primarily with adults navigating anxiety, depression, chronic stress, professional burnout, grief, trauma, and major life transitions.

My work is especially informed by cross-cultural and immigrant experiences, including clients who are first- or second-generation, high-achieving professionals, and individuals balancing multiple identities and expectations. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, IFS, and Motivational Interviewing, tailoring treatment to your goals rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all model.

In therapy, you can expect a collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded space—one that honors both your lived experience and practical skill-building. My role is to help you understand patterns that keep you stuck, strengthen emotional regulation, and move toward a life that feels more aligned, sustainable, and meaningful.

My approach to therapy

I specialize in working with people who experience anxiety and depression, challenges in stress management, professional burnout, cross-cultural adaptation, grief and loss, self-growth, life transitions, and chronic illness. I am also a LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming clinician. In the process of building this therapeutic alliance, we will work on developing individualized treatment goals and interventions using a variety of evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities.

What you can expect from me

The initial session is the time for you to start to share your story, talk about your goals and what you would like to change.

All follow-up sessions will last 50 minutes, which is the standard length of a psychotherapy session.

In terms of treatment frequency, we will meet once a week to begin with. I find it’s important to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly or progress can stall out. Once some or all of your goals are met, meeting less often will make sense.
