Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Tim (he/him) and I am a psychotherapist who is passionate about helping people from diverse backgrounds heal, grow, and work towards a life they believe is worth living. I have training and experience in clinical mental health counseling, substance use counseling, and higher education, and earned masters degrees from Marquette University and Wheaton College. I enjoy specializing in helping folks move forward as they work through anxiety, depression, substance use patterns, life transitions, identity, and personal growth.

My approach to therapy

I believe my role as a therapist is to be a consistent, genuine presence, who provides both professional support and challenge to help my clients achieve their goals. I believe each of us have intersecting identities and backgrounds that are essential for us to explore and honor in order to grow. I approach my work primarily through a mindfulness-based cognitive-behavioral perspective, and I also implement skills and interventions from a range of validated therapies. This means I care a lot about helping people get in touch with their inner and outer experiences, strengthen their ability to grow through stress, and practice living according to their values. I think trust is an essential ingredient to successful therapy and want to create a space that is safe for my clients to be authentic with themselves, with me, and in their lives outside of therapy.

What you can expect from me

Our first session together will be focused on getting to know each other, hearing your story, and identifying what you are hoping to get out of therapy. You can expect me to be warm, inquisitive, and open. As we get into future sessions, I am excited to partner with you through listening, observing, helping you identify important insights about yourself, and offering you skills and practices to help your with your goals.
