Great to meet you!

Even smart people may founder under stressful life events. We are only human, after all. I help bright and motivated men and women work through these surprising periods of confusion and disablement. These blocks have a natural basis if we can learn to slow down to make better sense of them. With that awareness and understanding, we may then find an answer to lead ourselves out of the muck. I want to help get you back to the best self, partner or parent you aspire to be.

My approach to therapy

I aspire above all to be effective at helping you understand your challenges and figure out your next step. Toward that end, I start with a focus on identifying your stumbling blocks and how you make sense of them. Where I can, I'll seek to enrich your understanding with additional perspectives you might not be considering. I would then hope to identify some practical experiments to begin building out your capacity to handle the problem with more grace and sophistication.

What you can expect from me

Turning our attention to our vulnerabilities is not easy. I'm sensitive to the dynamics of seeking help and aim to keep a relaxed, comfortable space for talking naturally about the problems that have led you to seek help. I don't stock much in diagnostic labels. Instead, I want to help you understand the specific areas where you can stumble and orient to the tasks for moving more steadily.
