Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm looking forward to working with you. I have over 30 years of experience in Clinical Social Work and have my MSW from Brigham Young University.

I have extensive experience and training in working with individuals of all ages with a wide variety of situations and challenges. I have experience in working in community mental health, hospice, and residential treatment with youth.

I primarily use a cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach as well as solution focused interventions. I am a firm believer that each person can reduce their emotional struggles through mindful approaches to situations and problems.

My approach to therapy

I believe in the power of each person to make positive, useful, and long terms changes in their lives. Each person has tremendous emotional strength and potential and I like to help discover ways to tap into helpful healing through a combination of emotional and psychological exploration to arrive at better ways to handle stressful situations, while improving personal resiliency.

In particular, I enjoy working with individuals that have struggles with depression, anxiety, trauma, end of life issues, physical health challenges and parenting problems. I enjoy working with parents of youth to help make their home and personal relationships more fulfilling. I also enjoy working directly with teens who are struggling to fit in or find school or home life difficult.

What you can expect from me

Perhaps the most important element of therapy is the relationship a person has with their therapist. I believe in making and keeping a good relationship with each person while using evidence-based approaches.

In the first session, each person can expect to feel validated and heard as we explore various issues that urged them to seek help. I'm open with my approach to treatment and help each person better understand the basis for what they are going through. I believe it's important that each person be heard and treated with kindness and respect in every session.
