Great to meet you!

I grew up in a law enforcement family, and enjoyed athletics and rodeo in high school. I graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Management while participating in football and lacrosse. I taught and coached in secondary education before entering the counseling field. I am a trained Cognitive Behavioral therapist, Adlerian therapist, Positive Psychology therapist, Highlands Ability Battery career counselor, Spirituotherapy counselor, EMDR trauma specialist, and a peak performance coach with the Flow Research Collective. I have counseled in a variety of arenas including private practice, business, health-care and religious environments. Over the course of my career, I have developed expertise in many areas including depression, anxiety, psychosis, trauma, career, marital and family related problems. With my diverse experiences, I am able to integrate various perspectives and disciplines into therapy to help people develop motivation, experience change, and find purpose and meaning in life.

My approach to therapy

My experiences early in life led me to want to work with people struggling with life issues, and help them work through difficult periods of life. I lost my mom when I was 12 years old. The grief I carried from this trauma affected me in various ways. As I encountered other life issues along my path, I benefited from counseling and therapy. I found answers that led me to complete resolution of my struggles. Naturally, feeling grateful for the support and guidance I received, I wanted to share those answers with others. So, I decided to commit my life to developing expertise to help others find answers to their life problems. I don't pretend to know everything, as a recent experience with my children reveals. When my 9 and 10 year old were arguing over a game, I said, "I just don't know why you guys keep doing this." My 9 year old said, "I don't know either. You're the therapist, you tell us." It was hard not to laugh while trying to maintain my composure. I experience many of the same pressures, struggles and hurts that others do. I don't always do what I know to do, but I have learned to laugh at myself, and correct my behavior. I would love to show you how to find answers to your life issues and point you to a life of fulfillment, purpose and meaning.
