Great to meet you!

I have practiced as a fully Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1995.

I graduated with a Masters of Social Work in December of 1993, from Tulane University School of Social Work in New Orleans, LA. Before attending the School of Social Work, I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from Loyoyla University in New Orleans, LA.

My experience began as a Social Worker in an acute hospital setting and then as an Oncology Social Worker for many years before working in long term care facilities and in end of life care with various hospice agencies. Between 2001-2005 I worked as a social worker on an inpatient psychiatric unit. Since 2005 I have worked in community mental health care and as an outpatient behavioral health counselor with local non-profit and hospital facilities before opening my own private practice in 2006.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My style is casual, personalized and focused on my client's goals. Various therapeutic models, intentional conversations, and evidenced based knowledge and interventions are used to create a calm and non-judgmental environment where healing and change can become reality. I believe every client has what they need to manage that which may feel unmanageable.

What you can expect from our first session

The direction and goals for therapy are a joint decision between the client and me as the therapist. Each visit is focused on progress towards established goals and the interventions used to resolve those tough issues that bring you into treatment.

I provide handouts, book recommendations, websites, etc. to provide clients with additional information based on the areas that are of most importance to the client.

Time is spent in sessions reviewing knowledge gained and assisting my clients to apply this knowledge to real life situations.
