Great to meet you!

I have been a licensed doctor of psychology for 20 years. I have always been a generalist, for one simple reason: It allows me to use different tools and techniques to fit the situation, without seeing people or their concerns through the lens of a “specialty” skill set. I work with adults-individual and couples, and I can meet virtually or in-office.

My approach to therapy

To use a metaphor, I have experience fighting different types of fires with many different tools. But even if a fire is out, it helps to know how your fires start: Only you can prevent forest fires. I utilize training, experience, and skills with different scientifically validated methods to help you get to a place where you can fight fires when they start, or prevent them before they do. One word of warning: I tend to be very direct and honest, but collaborative-it's how I'm wired.

What you can expect from me

Research indicates counseling works best when you like and trust your therapist. This only happens if we work together to set goals, and we are both able to be open and honest with each other. For many, the goal is not to solve all problems, but rather to address the issues that cause you to be “stuck”. Just like athletes can’t coach themselves, sometimes we need a different perspective or skill set to move us forward.
