My approach to therapy

Tomias Mathis is trained in evidence-based practices including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). Tomias takes an eclectic, client- centered approach, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities to get to the root of each individual’s challenges and tailoring his methods to meet the unique needs of every client.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental space during our first session. I take an eclectic approach, meaning I tailor therapy to meet your unique needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. In our first meeting, my focus is on getting to know you—your experiences, concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy.

You will be heard, listened to, and met with genuine understanding. I value authenticity and strive to create a space where you can be yourself without fear of criticism. While I take your concerns seriously, I also believe that appropriate humor can help build connection and ease tension when it feels right.

Together, we will begin exploring your goals and identifying meaningful steps toward growth and change. My role is to support, guide, and motivate you while also being honest, fair, and collaborative in the process.
