Great to meet you!

Welcome to Solutions Counseling! Named Solutions Counseling due to my solution focused approach to therapy. I’m Tony Severtson LPC. I’ve been practicing counseling since 2012 and am hoping to help you! Solutions come in all and shapes and sizes. You may be looking for practical, abstract, short term, long term, or just to find out your own solutions as we go. No matter what, I want to avoid stagnation in your therapeutic process. After all this a product you’re paying for! I started practicing therapy in 2012 at a residential treatment center in Denver. I spent eight years navigating some very difficult cases involving some of the worst instances of childhood trauma imaginable. I was also responsible for managing the behaviors of several very challenging teens living in the same house at the same time. I believe this has given me a unique perspective on behavioral modification, childhood trauma, teen development, and navigating the legal system. This experience has also helped mold my solution focused approach to counseling. In 2020 I decided to enter the realm of private practice and continued to learn about the real world problems facing patients. I took pride in learning from my clients and their perspectives as I adjusted to the less extreme nature of private practice. I also expanded my case load to accommodate individual adults and couples while still finding success with my solution focused approach.

My ideal individual client is age 12-45

My ideal couples age is 18-50

Families of all ages and generations welcome!

All of the above are negotiable with a consultation

My approach to therapy

My goal with therapy is to offer a comfortable and personable experience while we achieve your goals. We will spend time making sure we are a good fit for each other, as our relationship and ability to be honest with one another is paramount for our success. Once we’ve established rapport we will create a solution focused treatment plan that we agree on and begin the therapy process. You can expect to nurtured but also challenged as I am empathetic but direct. I thoroughly believe in telling my patients the truth even if it is difficult to hear and in return I remain open to all of their feedback. I also emphasize an interpersonal style. I present to you the same person in therapy that I present to the world. I enjoy being truly authentic with my patients!

What you can expect from me

You can expect to take away a truly personal experience. I enjoy creating a safe and occasionally fun space where therapy feels more like a nice conversation you’d have with someone you trust. I do my best to create a non judgmental but real world environment during my sessions. I hope you feel as though you are making progress over time even if that progress feels sometimes feels like we’re taking one step back but two steps forward.
