Great to meet you!

Sometimes it can feel like you're carrying more than anyone realizes. Perhaps anxiety keeps your mind racing, depression makes it difficult to find motivation, or you've been relying on substances to cope with emotions that feel too overwhelming to face alone. You may also be struggling with expectations around who you should be, navigating difficult relationships, or trying to move forward after experiences that have left you feeling disconnected from yourself. I work with adults and seniors experiencing substance use or addiction, depression, men's issues, women's issues, and PTSD. These concerns can also overlap with anxiety, stress management, and trauma, especially when emotional struggles and personal experiences begin affecting your everyday life. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I believe meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely understood rather than judged. Together, we can explore what's been weighing on you, recognize the strengths you already carry, and develop healthier ways of coping that help you feel more confident, grounded, and in control of your future.

My approach to therapy

Our work will make room for both the person you are today and the relationships, expectations, emotions, and experiences that have shaped you. We'll explore how substance use or addiction, depression, men's issues, women's issues, and PTSD may be affecting your emotional wellbeing, relationships, and sense of self. I may use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore your readiness for change without pressure or judgment, particularly when you're feeling uncertain about changing familiar coping patterns. I may also draw from Behavioral Activation to help you gradually reconnect with meaningful activities, routines, and experiences when depression has made it difficult to find motivation. Solution Focused Brief Therapy can help us recognize what's already working, build on your strengths, and identify practical steps toward the changes you want to make. When appropriate, Trauma Focused CBT can help you understand how painful experiences continue to influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while Seeking Safety can provide practical strategies for building stability and coping with the effects of trauma and substance use. Our sessions will be collaborative, affirming, and grounded in your individual needs, balancing meaningful self-exploration with practical tools that support lasting change.

What you can expect from me

You deserve a space where you can be honest about what you're experiencing without feeling judged, pressured, or defined by your struggles. During our first few sessions, we'll take time to understand what brought you here, what has been most difficult, and what you hope will feel different. Together, we'll establish meaningful goals that reflect your values, experiences, and the changes you want to make, while moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You can expect me to bring warmth, affirmation, and thoughtful encouragement to our conversations while creating an environment where you can speak openly about substance use, difficult emotions, identity, relationships, or painful experiences. Progress may look like developing healthier ways to cope without relying on substances, reconnecting with activities that bring meaning when depression feels heavy, feeling more confident expressing your needs, navigating personal expectations with greater clarity, or developing a stronger sense of safety after traumatic experiences. We'll continue checking in on your goals and adjusting our work based on what feels most helpful, helping you move forward with greater emotional balance, self-awareness, and confidence in yourself.
