Great to meet you!

Meet Toyia Miller-Peters aka “The Mindful Sistah,” a Loyola School of Social Work graduate with over 25 years of experience in community health education, counseling, philanthropy, and advocacy for disenfranchised populations. While 20 years of my work experience has been in the educational sector working with adolescents, I have also had the opportunity to work in the private sector with adults, couples and families.

My approach to therapy

I believe, as stated by Nelson Mandela, “we are all bound together in ways that are invisible to the eye” so I have a personal level of responsibility to help strengthen my community. As a licensed clinical social worker and certified mindfulness coach, I use a multitude of modalities such as Solution Focused Therapy, CBT and DBT while also incorporating meditation and mindfulness into counseling whenever possible.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to provide a culturally sensitive space for clients to process emotions, identify ways to handle triggering situations, develop coping skills and healthy boundaries.
