Great to meet you!

About Me: Hello to you! So are you ready to get to work on you and your happiness? Ok, the important act you can do right this minute is congratulate yourself for having the courage to give yourself the gift of therapy! Whether you are seeking out therapy for the first time due to stress/relationship etc., or whether you are looking to address a long overdue issue or maybe find better ways to communicate in a relationship, or even decide whether a relationship is right for you-maybe just how to find more joy in your life, I applaud your taking the time to put yourself first. You deserve it, and we call all benefit from self-exploration and learning new ways to self-care!

A bit about my approach to therapy

My focus has always been to assist a client to engage in self-examination so you can discover who you really are and what will truly bring you happiness and self-contentment. Yes, this may seem easy to some and monumental to others, but to me, I believe being able to sincerely be at peace in our own skin is the bases of what empowers you to be the best person you can be. You automatically become a more loving partner, parent, sibling, a more empathic neighbor, a harder worker, a more energetic and motivated person and more accepting of yourself and others. I am not implying that you get to just accept yourself as you are, but instead you love yourself enough to challenge yourself to change those negative coping mechanisms that you have been using. You may have to let go of relationships that enable or even encourage you to stay stuck, or at minimum learn to set boundaries with those people in your life who do not support the healthy you. By the way, reconfiguring relationships is a requirement if you have a NARCISSTIC person in your life. What is the result of all your hard work that I get the honor of helping guide you through? You become true to who you are, you love yourself, you feel an inner sense of peace and joy. Your depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorder, relationship difficulties or whatever your symptom is naturally begins to dissipate. Oh, of course, this is not some magic get to the end of the rainbow and all is well forever. It is continued work, and I equate it to adopting a healthy nutrition and exercise lifestyle. Setting all those new habits and examining all the underlying reasons you have chosen to live that way for so long can be painful, but once you have faced the scary obstacles, and reached your goal, then you get to enjoy maintenance. Sure, life will continue to throw you stressors, but you will have more tools to cope.

What you can expect from our first session

Now, for which therapeutic technique we use. Well, to be honest, I am versed in most of the popular ones (CBT, DBT, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, etc.), but I find myself relying on your needs to dictate what we use, and usually this means using components of all these models. But, if I had to choose one, it would be the Interpersonal Therapy, because quite frankly, I am interested in who you are. Lastly, I encourage all my family, friends, colleagues, strangers I talk to, who are interested in therapy to “shop therapists”. I suggest this to you. You are picking a person to guide you down a path of self-discovery to meet your personal goals. You get to be picky in your picking. If you chose to set an appointment with me, then I will look forward to meeting you, and, if not I wish you the best in your journey! As for my biography, I have worked as a therapist off and on for the last 25 years. I spent several years working with homeless youth. I loved helping them learn to rebuild their lives after many had survived severe trauma. During my off years, I raised my two daughters, became a personal fitness trainer, certified teacher (just substituted) and volunteered. I like to travel, so I have decided to conduct therapy remotely, so I can still see you which is my passion! What's yours?
