Great to meet you!

I'm Dr. Traci Gavila, a licensed psychologist working with adults and adolescents. I help clients navigate life transitions while understanding and healing the deeper patterns that may be holding them back.

I work with adults and adolescents who are motivated for meaningful change and are looking for a more in-depth, personalized therapy experience, especially those navigating life transitions or noticing how early experiences are impacting their current relationships and well-being. My focus is on helping individuals navigate these life challenges and supporting them in their journey toward a more fulfilling and contented life.

Navigating transitions is an experience I'm familiar with personally. Prior to my career as a psychologist, I lived abroad, dedicating time to work with children, adults and families as a teacher and community health volunteer. Throughout my work, I also experienced some struggles adapting to uncomfortable and challenging situations. These experiences include living and working in a country with different cultural norms and having to communicate in a language that was very new to me. These experiences honed my ability to empathize with those who feel misunderstood and alone. Along with my expertise and doctorate in psychology, I now use these skills to help others adapt and thrive.

My approach to therapy

I strive to create a space that is warm, nonjudgmental, and grounded, while also helping you gently explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative. I listen and actively help you make sense of your experiences by exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences with you to achieve greater insight and meaningful change. I’m especially attuned to how past experiences, including childhood dynamics, can shape how we navigate relationships, stress, and life transitions in the present.

I value building a genuine connection with my clients and tailoring our work to what feels most helpful for you. Therapy with me is a space to feel understood, while also being supported in growing in ways that matter.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable and there is no pressure to have everything figured out.

We’ll talk about what’s been going on in your life, what you’ve been struggling with, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. I may ask questions about your current concerns, important life experiences, and any patterns you’ve noticed in your emotions or relationships.

This first meeting is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work and to ask any questions you may have. My goal is to create a space that feels comfortable, collaborative, and supportive, while beginning to identify meaningful areas we can focus on together.

By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer understanding of your goals and whether working together feels like a good fit.
