
Dr. Norris provides psychodynamic psychotherapy to clients with complex trauma histories and/or severe behavioral and emotional problems. She earned a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from the Rutgers University School of Social Work and a Masters of Social Work (M.S.W.) from the Columbia University School of Social Work at Columbia University. Dr. Norris underwent advanced training at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP), a progressive psychoanalytic training institute.
Dr. Norris’s approach to psychotherapy draws from a number of treatment modalities including psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT,) dialectical behavioral Therapy (DBT), and psychoanalytic. Dr. Norris also utilizes the art of dream analysis.
I will work with you as you embark on a journey toward psychological autonomy, which is essentially mental, emotional, and intellectual freedom. Together we will explore your intra-psychic world, or what is occurring in your mind (subjective reality), and your sociopolitical world (objective reality) that contribute to and/or detract from psychological autonomy
