Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Illinois. I am of the Christian faith, and my practice is built on Christian principles. At this time, I offer telehealth sessions to adult individuals in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Kentucky. I have worked in the field of Social Work for 24 years at the Bachelor's level, including case management for at-risk youth, CPS investigations and medical social work. I received my Master's of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville and have been practicing psychotherapy for four years. I have worked mostly in the areas of depression, anxiety, sexual trauma and PTSD. I assist clients in recognizing triggers/barriers to living meaningful lives and understanding how the healing process begins.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I use a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities and will integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into most sessions. I believe firmly how and what we think greatly impacts our emotions and actions. When we better understand this, we can begin to take control of our thoughts rather than our thoughts controlling us. I assist clients in reframing negativity with more balanced, healthy thinking. As with any new activity we wish to improve, fostering this skill with consistent practice helps to ensure success.

What you can expect from our first session

In our first session together, we will begin with introductions. We will talk in a broad sense about what brought you in today. I will ask you about the goals you have for yourself. Subsequent sessions will consist of developing a treatment plan, understanding any trauma you may have and how to begin to cope in order to live a more fulfilling, satisfying life.
