Great to meet you!

Your search for a therapist is already a significant achievement. In a culture that confuses material productivity with self-worth, seeking out a place to pause, reflect, and process through life's many challenges might be considered wasteful. But good news! Nothing could be further from the truth. The reality is that we need supportive spaces where we can look into our own lives with genuine interest, curiosity, and compassion. And you are deserving of such a space.

One of the many things that make us unique is our ability to pause and investigate narratives we hold about our lives that may not be serving us well. Illuminating barriers to a fuller, more compassionate view of self can be daunting. But it's some of the most important work you could ever do. You are deserving of a fulfilled life!

I work from an integrative, client-centered approach, tailoring therapeutic interventions to best serve each client. My aim is to light your way and provide you with support as you pursue your goals, at a pace that works best for you. Looking forward to getting the conversation started together.

My approach to therapy

You are the expert on your own experience. However, there may be unhelpful beliefs inhibiting a full, thorough exploration of that experience.

My approach is one of curiosity: when I hear absolutes that may be walling off access to one's experience (for example, "I'll never be good enough"), I will spend time validating the emotional charge behind those statements while gently challenging them and integrating evidence that contributes to a fuller, more accurate, and less shame-based view of self. Our identities can't be reduced to a single negative statement--we're far too complex for that to be true, and that's very good news.

I also employ mindfulness strategies and body awareness, bringing our whole self--our posture, breathing, muscle relaxation--into alignment with new, more accurate beliefs that validate the complex reality of each individual.

Here are a few of the therapeutic modalities and approaches I employ: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Attachment-based interventions, Psychoeducation, Somatic interventions, Mindfulness

What you can expect from me

Together, we will shed additional light on aspects of your experience that may be obscured by low self-worth, a history of trauma, or any number of issues contributing to what I've been calling a "displacement from self."

The beliefs we have about ourselves, others, and the world can be sobering to take stock of at first. But once they've been identified, they become easier to catch, check against objective truth, and change to include a much-needed dose of self-compassion.

My hope is that you're not only encouraged, but empowered to make important, necessary, and healthy changes in your life. You are far from alone.
