Great to meet you!

Trudy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW in the states of Florida, Virginia and Indiana. Trudy has 17 years experience serving in differing capacities within the Mental Health and Substance Use field. Trudy’s approach is client-centered and strengths based, she encourages her clients to create change and positive core beliefs while enhancing their self-image.

If you are struggling with substance abuse and or mental health issues, she wants you to know that you are not alone in this journey. She is here to help you reach your full potential. There is hope for everyone and with hard work during and outside of your therapy sessions, we can get you to a better place together.

My approach to therapy

She incorporates interventions from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution Focused theories.

What you can expect from me

In your first therapy session, I will usually start by introducing myself and explaining how therapy works, including confidentiality and how sessions are structured. I will ask about what brought you to therapy and what you are currently struggling with so I can understand your main concerns. I may also ask some background questions about areas of your life such as relationships, work or school, past experiences, and your mental health history to get a clearer picture of your situation. You may also discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and any goals you might have, though these do not have to be fully defined yet. The session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and see if me as a therapist feels like a good fit. Overall, the first session is mainly about getting to know each other, understanding your needs, and deciding on possible next steps for therapy.
