A bit about my approach to therapy

Tutu is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania. Tutu loves working with children, teens, families, adults and couples. Tutu is certified in HealthCare and Integrated Health. Tutu has completed comprehensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interventing, Addiction Medicine and Behavioral Modification. Tutu believes everyone should have a safe, supportive and healing place to work through life's challenges and transitions. Tutu works from a collaborative and strengths-based approach with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, relationship challenges, self-esteem, trauma, grief, life transitions and addiction.

Tutu utilize several different assessment tools during the course of care with a client. However, during intakes, Tutu use GAD, PHQ-9 and ACEs. Tutu re-assess 2-6 months and update treatment plans for clients every 90 days.

With younger children, Tutu is hands on. Tutu uses play therapy, behavioral modification techniques, games, visuals, videos, books (reward systems in therapy and/ or at home) and the strength -based model. Tutu involve parents as appropriate but encourage the children to share their therapy homework/coping skills with the parents and explore ways the parents can help the child practice the skill/or complete the task.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to take away a deeper understanding of their emotions, thoughts and behaviors. Clients will have a non-judgemental space to process, assess or develop practical tools and strategies to manage challenges and increased self-awareness, develop boundaries, practice skills and explore difficult issues and transitions. Clients will be able to explore past or current barriers to progress or development of a healthy sense of self. While working collaboratively with clients, Tutu strives to ensure clients feel empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
