Great to meet you!

Hello, I'm Tykesha Burrell, MSW, LICSW. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 10 years of experience providing compassionate, client-centered support to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Alabama A&M University and am currently pursuing my PhD in Social Work, with a focus on improving healthcare access and outcomes in underserved communities. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and trauma-informed, and I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, empowered, and supported as they work toward healing, resilience, and meaningful personal growth.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel safe, respected, and empowered to share their experiences without fear of judgment. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and trauma-informed, integrating evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness strategies to meet each client's unique needs. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, stress, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, and self-esteem concerns. Together, we will identify your goals, build healthy coping skills, and create practical strategies that foster healing, resilience, and lasting personal growth.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my priority is getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We will discuss your concerns, personal history, strengths, and goals while moving at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to be yourself. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that reflects your needs and identifies meaningful steps toward healing, growth, and lasting positive change.
