Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Dr. Vaida Kurseviciene, though most people call me Dr. K. I'm a licensed psychologist and the founder of Aligné Therapy. I work virtually with couples and individuals in Florida, New York and PSYPACT states.

My own path has taught me a lot about change. I'm an immigrant, and I was a lawyer in my home country before I found my way to psychology. I've been married for over 24 years and have 2 adult children. Starting over in a new country, changing careers and growing alongside one partner for more than two decades have all asked me to slow down and realign my life with what matters most: how I show up for the people I love, who I am, and who I want to become. So if you're in the middle of your own transition, or wondering how to keep a relationship strong over time, I understand it from the inside. I also love to travel. Every new culture I get to know humbles me and widens how I see the world, and I bring that openness to every client I work with.

Learning has always been part of who I am. I earned my doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and I'm currently deepening my clinical skills at Columbia University. I'm licensed in Floroida and New York, with PSYPACT authorization to practice across participating states. I'm trained in the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I also draw on psychodynamic, attachment-based and interpersonal approaches.

I work with thoughtful, high-functioning adults and couples, often professionals navigating a turning point, including immigrants and multicultural couples, who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and create real, lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when two things come together: a real sense of safety, and a therapist who listens closely enough to help you truly know yourself. I'm a warm but direct therapist. I'll meet you with care, and I'll also gently name what I see, because honest reflection is often where growth begins. We'll explore what's happening in your life right now and connect it to the experiences that shaped you. Our past quietly shapes how we show up with ourselves and with others: in our relationships, at work, with our children and with colleagues. When we understand those patterns, we can choose how we want to move forward, more aligned with who we really are.

What you can expect from me

Reaching out for therapy takes courage, so my first priority is making sure you feel safe, comfortable and heard. Our first session is mostly about getting to know you as a whole person, not just the problem that brought you in. I'll ask about what's on your mind, what you hope will change, and a little about your story. You can share at whatever pace feels right. My goal is first to understand you, and then to work with you on making sense of your life, your struggles and what's getting in the way. You'll leave with a clearer sense of how we can work together, and hopefully feeling a bit lighter for having started.
