Great to meet you!

My name is Valerie Ignatenko, and I am a licensed psychologist. My career began over 20 years ago when I worked in a city environment doing crisis work and case management. I have had experiences in various mental health settings, including hospital settings, residential, outpatient settings, and community based settings prior to continuing my education.. I completed my doctoral training at West Virginia University, and have provided psychological services to a diverse groups of people.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I approach each person from a humanistic frame, meaning that each person is a unique individual. I meet people where they are, and utilize strategies from multiple therapeutic orientations, depending on what is appropriate for each person. I use methods from CBT, DBT, EMDR, psychodynamic, interpersonal, and solution focused therapies.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to be welcomed and to feel safe when speaking with me. I hope to offer a safe space for each person to express as much or as little as they choose, without judgment, and with love, compassion and acceptance.
