Great to meet you!

I'm Valerie Sewell, a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) based in West Texas. I work primarily via telehealth, which means I can meet clients wherever they are across the state — whether you're in a small town with limited local options or a city where life just moves too fast to slow down. I have a dual background in counseling and applied behavior analysis (BCBA), which gives me a practical, behavioral lens: I'm interested in what's actually getting in your way and how to address it in a way that sticks. I bring a steady, consistent presence to every session, and faith is genuinely welcome here — many of my clients carry their spirituality with them, and that's something we can work with rather than around.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct but warm — I'm not going to sit back and just take notes. I'll ask real questions, help you connect what's happening inside to what's playing out in your life, and offer concrete tools you can use outside of sessions. I draw on cognitive-behavioral approaches, stress and emotion regulation strategies, and the behavioral insight from my ABA background. I don't believe in making therapy feel endless. My goal is to give you skills that actually work so that eventually you're running your own life well — with or without me. That said, I also know healing has its own pace, and I'll always follow yours.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a real conversation — not a checklist. I'll ask about what brought you here, what's been weighing on you, and what you actually want to be different in your life. You don't have to have it all figured out before we start. By the end of that first meeting, you'll have a clear sense of how I work and what we might focus on together. I see long-term clients as well as people working through a specific season of life. Either way, we'll figure out together what kind of support actually fits where you are.
