Valery Lozano

Valery graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BA in Psychology and a BS in Criminal Justice. She earned a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Arizona State University and a second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.

Valery Lozano is an LPC in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and also has a practice in Steamboat Springs, Reins of Empowerment Counseling, and she is the executive Director and co-founder of Warhorse Ranch which is a non-profit serving veterans, first responders, and trauma survivors. Valery is currently trained in EMDR as well as other therapeutic modalities. She spent 12 years as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer until 2020 when family needs at home outweighed her career. She was a military wife for 16 years and is well versed in mental health challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Valery’s focus is to combat the mental health crisis which spreads across the nation by raising awareness and being able to provide therapeutic interventions that are proven to be most effective in mental health treatment.

Valery's approach in any therapeutic capacity is to empower her clients. She often used solution-focused therapy, as well as integrating other approaches to give the client the power to resolve and learn from their struggles. Valery encourages clients to take back their power from trauma.

Typically the first visit is to establish a client/therapist relationship. Much of the first visit will be spent talking about the client's history as well as the therapeutic goals the client would like to achieve.
