Great to meet you!

I'm VaLynnsia Bodie — a Black woman therapist, LPC, and someone who genuinely believes that real healing happens when you stop performing and start being honest about what's going on. I work with children, teens, adults, and families dealing with the stuff that feels too big to carry alone: trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, identity questions, and relationship stress. My approach is direct, warm, and culturally aware. I don't do cookie-cutter therapy. I meet you where you are — with evidence-based tools and an honesty-first style that makes space for the real you.

My approach to therapy

Therapy with me is a collaboration, not a lecture. I pull from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic approaches, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy — choosing the tools that actually fit your situation. If you're a parent bringing in a child or teen, I use Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to strengthen the relationship alongside the individual work. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My job is to help you access the clarity and tools you need to move forward. As I tell my clients: Keep it real, so you can heal.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a conversation, not an evaluation. We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, what's felt most heavy lately, and what you're hoping for. I'll share how I work and we'll figure out together whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure to have everything figured out before we begin — that's what we're here to do together. I offer evening and Saturday appointments to fit around real life. Whether you're coming in person in Longview or joining via telehealth from anywhere in Texas, I'm ready when you are.
