Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Vanessa Balous, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner proudly serving Orange City, Florida, and surrounding communities.

I am dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

I perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and work collaboratively with each patient to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs. My approach may include psychotherapy, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and patient education to promote lasting emotional wellness and improved quality of life.

I believe that mental health is an essential part of overall health, and I am committed to helping every patient achieve greater balance, resilience, and well-being through personalized, holistic care.

My approach to therapy

My approach to care is compassionate, collaborative, and patient-centered. I believe that every individual deserves to be heard, respected, and treated as a whole person—not just a diagnosis. I strive to build trusting relationships where patients feel safe discussing their concerns without judgment.

I use evidence-based practices to develop individualized treatment plans that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle modifications, and education. I encourage patients to actively participate in their treatment decisions so we can work together to achieve meaningful and lasting improvements.

As a bilingual Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I am committed to providing culturally sensitive care in both English and Spanish. My goal is to empower patients with the knowledge, support, and tools they need to improve their mental health, enhance their quality of life, and reach their personal goals.

What you can expect from me

During your first appointment, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment where we take the time to get to know you and understand your concerns. We will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, discussing your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, family history, lifestyle, and any factors that may be affecting your emotional well-being.

This initial session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share your goals, and discuss what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, and referrals to additional resources when appropriate.

My goal is for you to leave your first visit feeling heard, understood, and confident that we have a clear plan to support your mental health journey.
