Great to meet you!

My name is Vaniqua (pronounced: Va-Knee-Qwah). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, looking to support you as you to take that brave step in obtaining mental health services. Being in social work the last 20 yrs, my speciality is working with adults struggling with trauma and/or life challenges causing them to feel depression, stress, grief, and anxiety. I am also experienced in working with women as they transition through the perinatal period or work towards overcoming postpartum depression.

A little bit about myself — outside of the therapy room, I enjoy arts and crafts. Whether it’s painting, creating handmade gifts, or just getting creative with DIY projects, I find it to be a calming way to recharge and express myself.

My approach to therapy

You can also expect me to use various therapeutic modalities which can include (but not limited to), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy (just to name a few of my favorites).

What you can expect from me

During our work together, you can expect us to identify and work on your personal treatment goals during each of our sessions. I am a big believer of offering a safe and judgement-free environment during every psychotherapy session. I will offer strengths-based, person-centered approach in our treatment sessions, which means I am a professional that will (1) start where you are, (2) encourage self-determination, (3) offer relevant education to help you get to where you've identified you desire to be, and (4) act as a cheerleader that will acknowledge and celebrate your progress, while navigating and encouraging you through obstacles that life will try to add to your healing journey. Thank you for considering me to partner with you as you seek to begin (or resume) your journey of healing!
