Great to meet you!

My name is Verneisha Polk. I received a bachelor’s degree in May 2013 from University of Houston in Psychology with a minor in human growth and family studies. In May of 2024, I received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University which is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). A counseling relationship between a professional counselor and client is a professional relationship in which the counselor assists the client in exploring and resolving difficult life issues. I believe that when individuals begin to explore their concerns and become more accepting of themselves within their world, they are more capable of achieving happiness while building resilience within their daily lives.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is simple in meeting individuals where they are and is open to any individual ready to explore their mental health. It will be my privilege to become a present passenger in the vehicle of life as you are the driver maneuvering steering wheel to where your future leads. My practice is person-centered and has no limits, if the individual is willing, and is open to school-aged children, adolescents, and adults and can include career, personal, and counseling. Our counseling sessions are limited to a professional relationship and tend to provide support for my clients who believe they have the capacity to resolve their own problems with my assistance. Self-awareness and self-acceptance are goals that sometimes feels like it will take a long time to achieve; however, it is my hope that your engagement in achieving self-discovery you may be able to pursue your future self and achieve goals you have set for yourself.

What you can expect from me

What to expect on our first session together is getting to know what you expect to gain from therapy and some goals. Honestly, the first couple of sessions will seem to be introduction as rapport can take time to establish to lay the foundation to secure our therapeutic relationship! I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment that allows you to feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also feeling secure. From there, we’ll work together in the sessions that follow to make these goals a reality for you.
