Hello, I'm glad you're here! I'm Vernetta, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I hold a Master Degree in Counseling Psychology and a Master in Organizational Psychology. I am a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC). I have a significant history working with Adolescents and Families, and Substance Abuse treatment. I provide psychotherapy for individuals, families and groups dealing with many mental health concerns including but, not limited to: depression, anxiety, anger management, grief and loss, parenting and behavioral issues, women issues and I can provide Christian counseling as well. I would appreciate the opportunity walk beside you and assist you on your journey to healing.

My approach to therapy

My approach is guiding the treatment process for active listening using.

Person-Centered Therapy -Allows the therapist to work as a team with the client. The therapist is supportive with a non-judgment stance and is empathetically driven toward providing a safe space to talk, self-actualize and assist the client make positive changes in their life.

Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT) - Allows one to focus on identifying and changing unhelpful thinking patterns

Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) - Is used to combine (CBT) with mindfulness to help those with intense emotional distress.

Trauma Focused CBT- Treatment is to assist the client in the healing process of trauma caused by a variety of situations/triggers.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will begin with building rapport and addressing any pressing questions that my clients may have about the therapeutic process and what they may expect. We will spend time gathering background information and setting some tentative goals for our future sessions.
